EMS Treat & Refer Program
ALS/PCS stands for Advanced Life Support Patient Care Standards. They are a publically available set of standards for paramedic care and medical directives. Where patients are NOT identified as palliative, paramedics must follow this set of directives for care, which could include transport to the hospital vs refusal of care.
Paramedics may ‘patch’ or call the on-call base hospital physician to receive delegation where required.
