The Queen’s University School of Medicine has partnered with Lakeridge Health to create the Queen’s-Lakeridge Health MD Family Medicine Program – an innovative, first-of-its-kind model in Canada. This program directly addresses the shortage of family physicians in Ontario by graduating practice-ready, community-focused doctors equipped to provide comprehensive care.
Students enrolled in this program undergo classroom training at Lakeridge Health and complete clinical placements embedded in local communities, stretching across Durham Region and beyond. The curriculum focuses on preparing future family physicians to meet the health–care needs of diverse patient populations.
A Unique Opportunity for DFCM Members
As a member of the DFCM, you can play a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of family physicians by serving as a preceptor or facilitator for Queen’s-Lakeridge Health MD Family Medicine Program students.
